BLACKPINK (Hangul (Korean), 블랙 핑크; stylized as BLΛƆKPIИK) is a girl group formed by YG Entertainment.
It is made up of four members (2 Korean, 1 New Zealand and 1 Thai) Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa.
Why 'BLACKPINK'?:
It is a contradiction of the common perception of the color pink. Pink is used in many cases to represent cuteness, but BLACKPINK means that "pretty isn't everything". In addition, it symbolizes that they are a team that includes not only beauty, but also great talent.
Official Fanclub Name: BLINK Why BLINK?
It is the combination of BLACKPINK. In turn means "flash" in English, this means that it is the way they see their fans.
BLINK is the sparkle that they will always see on the path they walk together.

PRE-DEBUT
On June 1, 2016, YG Entertainment began to reveal new images to announce their new girl group.
Each week a member was revealed, starting with Jennie, who previously collaborated with artists from the same agency. On June 8, Lisa, the mystery girl who shocked many with a YouTube video uploaded on her agency's own channel, was revealed. On June 15, they revealed the photo of Jisoo, the oldest of the group, already known due to her modeling for various advertising brands and appearances in music videos. On June 22, they revealed Rosé, as the latest member, previously known for her appearance on the song "Without You". by G-Dragon in 2012, drawing attention by showing off his powerful voice.
Finally, on June 29, YG Entertainment released images of the full group with the previously revealed four members, confirming that the group would consist of four girls: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa.
The agency confirmed that the debut would take place at the end of July, however, the debut was postponed to August 8.

FUN FACTS
The members' training period was: Jennie five years eleven months / Lisa and Jisoo five years / Rosé four years.
They revealed that their previous name was going to be PinkPunk but the CEO decided to change the name to a fresher one and decided it would be BLACKPINK.
On June 29, 2016, it was confirmed through YG LIFE that the name of the group would be BLACKPINK and it would have four members.
YG Entertainment's famous producer Teddy has been writing and producing songs for BLACKPINK for two years.
Many fans noticed the similarity of the group's logo with that of Teddy's agency, it must be because of the hard work he does for BLACKPINK.
Yang Hyun Suk (CEO of YG) declared that BLACKPINK would not have a leader, since their friendship was so great that if there was something to discuss they would do it together.
On July 7, 2016, they revealed their first dance practice as a group and the occupation of each member.
